To the Kirbyville CISD Families and Staff:
At the present time, Kirbyville CISD does not plan to close school as a result of the COVID-19 illness. As a District, we are taking all recommended steps to keep our children and our school community safe. We have implemented enhanced cleaning and disinfecting procedures for all of our school facilities. I am carefully following the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the United States Department of Education, the Texas Education Agency and state and local public health recommendations. Under the current circumstances, there appears to be no benefit to our children or the public health of our community by closing schools. We will continue to monitor the situation carefully, and understand that this is a rapidly developing situation. I will continue to update the community in the event that conditions change. I would ask everyone to remember that our community will be safest if everyone with symptoms of fever, chills or cough consult their health care provider and stay home from work or school. Practice healthy habits of washing hands thoroughly and frequently and refrain from unnecessary travel to areas more heavily impacted by the virus.
In an effort to best prepare in the event of a school closure, I am also asking for our families to complete a short survey concerning Internet and food service. This information will help us better meet the needs of our students.
