Technology Teachers of the Week

Yoda's Picks

Kelley O'Bannion
Kelley O'Bannion is this week's Yoda recipient for November. Besides looking for new ways to integrate technology into her math classes at Kirbyville High School, she has a passion for the whole education of our students. Kelley has taken the time to create two Digital Citizenship bulletin boards in the Math Building at KHS, reminding students how social media can have consequences. Taking time out of her busy schedule to create these info-boards is why Yoda loves Mrs. O'Bannion!

Nancy Pace
Nancy Pace was nominated for the Yoda Award for September 30 - October 4 by Ms. Dianne Pace. Nancy, our KHS Art Teacher, decided that we needed a Digital Graphics Design class at KHS and she stepped up to make it happen. She not only began working on what devices and programs would be best suited for such a class, but also spent time getting training from colleagues around the state who were already teaching a Digital Graphic Design course.

Having just finished the first 6 weeks of school, her students are already designing all manner of posters and productions in class and for the school.

Thank you Mrs. Pace for not only integrating technology into your classroom, but teaching your students skills that can lead to a career in Graphic Design.

Patricia Bagwell
KCISD Tech Team has chosen Mrs. Patricia Bagwell as the Tech teacher of the Week. Mrs. Bagwell has received Yoda for her efforts to stretch her knowledge and spend time in class focusing on integrating technology into her student instruction. She has been making great strides in moving instructional materials into Google Apps such as Classroom and Slides in an effort to enhance students skills in the use of their Chromebooks and open up avenues for students to become creators and not just consumers of technology.

Brooklyn Pearson

Brookelynn Pearson was nominated for the Yoda Award for September 9 - September 13 by Ms. Dianne Pace. When Ms. Pace was visiting her room she found "...all of her 2nd graders were on Chromebooks working independently. She had a student who was in charge of turning on the project or, and another who monitored his classmates to make sure they were all keeping their devices safe and off the floor. In less than three weeks she has taught those kiddos procedures for using the technology - and she said all but one can log on independently."

Thank you Mrs. Pearson for not only integrating technology into your classroom, but teaching your students good care and having good classroom management of technology equipment.

Desi Johnson

Desi Johnson is our 8th grade Tech Apps teacher at Kirbyville Jr. High. She has been doing a great job of teaching her students how to be good digital citizens. So much so, that a few of them have been chosen to present Digital Citizenship at the February KCISD Board Meeting.

Thank you Mrs. Johnson for teaching our students how to be good digital citizens.

Christy Gibson

Yoda usually visits a great teacher, but this week he is visiting a whole class! Mrs. Gibson has been sharing the STEAM with her second graders by teaching them to code using Sphero robots! What a group of techies!

Thank you Mrs. Gibson for sharing your love of education and tech with your students!
